Doodlebug Design: Craft Room Tour

Hi Everyone!  It's Kathy today and I'll be kicking off a couple of weeks of Creative Space and Organizing Ideas from the Doodlebug Design Team!  I will admit, as soon as I heard we would be doing craft space tours, I set to madly cleaning, purging and reorganizing my craft room.  This is the best it has ever looked!  I have tons of pictures and a short video at the end... so let's take a peek...

About 5 years ago, I decided to convert the Guest Room/ Toy Room to a Scrap room.  My daughter was older, so we really didn't need a room full of Calico Critters and Barbies anymore. This was the result!

I found this giant 4-seater desk, which is perfect for storage and for when I have friends over.  Just a note to let you know the top is NEVER this clear.  Usually I'm lucky if I can see any of the white of the desk.  Even my husband walked in and said, "WOW!"

I have a small desk where I keep my Cameo, my sewing machine and laptop.

My bulletin board mostly holds DT calendars and some color charts, with a few fun items mixed in.

Under my desk is a my "not so secret" stash of homeless layouts.  As you can see there are quite a few in need of albums.  Some day I will get to this project, but for now, my layouts are safe in plastic storage.

I live in a small cape, so my craft room also doubles as our guest room.  We bought a comfy pull out couch for this purpose.  As you can see, my fluffy kitty finds it very cozy.  I also store my Raskog cart with my Big Shot and Die storage over here.  On the walls, I've added some of my favorite Doodlebug layouts in shadowbox frames.

Many times I print the wrong size photos for my layouts.  I hate to throw away pictures, so I purchased this shutter to hold the "rejects."

No craft room would be truly complete without a way to binge on my favorite shows. (currently catching up on Dexter, This is Us and Santa Clarita Diet... as I impatiently wait for Game of Thrones)

I store my paper in XL Zipped bags.  This basket holds last year's Doodlebug Collections.  It makes it easier to just grab that perfect paper.

I have this set of drawers I purchased at Ikea.  They hold extra adhesive, my markers, some card bases... all those items without another home.  The crate on top holds all of my Doodlebug Alphas, Petite Prints and Sugar Coated Cardstock.   The unicorn is named Hank.  He hangs here so that my little kitty won't eat him.

Next up is my printer cart.  I won this fabulous wide format printer a couple of years ago in a Facebook contest.  Underneath are bins with paper, cardstock, photo papers, print cartridges, my Instax Printer and Selphy.

Over the cart, I have my Doodlebug Collectors Pins!  I will definitely be adding to this display!

My shelves are really the "work horse" of my craft room.

On top of the shelves, I've put some of my favorite projects.

I have some file holders that house all of my Silhouette media.... chipboard, vinyl, heat transfer, magnet, and kits for glass etching etc.

Beneath those folders, I have my cardstock, alpha stickers and some sketch books and magazines.

I have a lot of different storage, including these drawers which hold my Doodlebug Sequins and Glitter.

I have one whole drawer dedicated to my Doodle Pops.  I love Doodle Pops.  I hoard Doodle Pops.

I have an entire basket dedicated to my Doodlebug Washi  Tape!

And a former CD holder is the perfect size for my Doodlebug Doily collection!

I have a few of these canvas holders which are perfect for smaller items.  I have one I have filled with all of my Doodlebug Sprinkles.  I keep the similar types together with binder rings.

The canvas storage are also perfect for stamp and wafer die storage.

I store my paper collections in giant zip bags then in these cubes I found at Target.  The cubes are organized by manufacturer... this one is ALL DOODLEBUG!

I keep one file holder on my desk to hold the most current collections.  This keeps them handy for my projects in progress...

And now for a dose of reality.... I do use the space under the desk for "storage."  I keep my crop bags here, a bin of older projects and the box is home to my new Cameo 3 that I have not had a moment to play with and use....  Oh and Rosie, she likes it here too.

Here is a quick video tour, it is my first video ever that isn't a cat video for Instagram.... I hope you enjoy!

That's it for me today!  Make sure to stop by the Doodlebug Blog over the next couple of weeks to get more Craft Room and Organization inspiration from the whole team!

  1. So fun! Loving the grey and aqua color scheme! I must confess that my pile of layouts to put in albums is probably just as large. Way back when I did post bound so it's always a full day chore to put them in since I never scrapbook in order. ;) Loving that you use your cart to hold all your die-cutting in one spot. I'm watching many of the same shows as you. I've never seen Dexter, but maybe it's time to finally give it a shot. ;)

  2. Hi Kathy! Thanks for letting us into your happy place :o) I wanted to ask about your printer, as I've been looking for a "big" printer for my 12"x12" pages and to use it for print & cut with my Cameo3. What model is yours? Are you happy with it? Is it inkjet or laser (I'm also thinking of digi stamps to copic colour, of course!). Thanks in advance and happy crafting :o)

    1. Hi Denice,
My printer is a Canon Pixma. I actually won it on a Facebook contest so I didn't do a lot of research but I do love it!

    1. I bought the 4 seater desk at pbteen.com about 5 years ago. Unfortunately I don't think they carry it any longer but the do have some great desks that might work. Hope you find something that works for you!
